The curtain will drop on the country’s most expensive football tournament today when archrivals Abahani and Mohammedan lock horns in the Citycell Super Cup final.
President Zillur Rahman will witness the final and distribute trophies as chief guest.
The final will be telecast live by Bangladesh Television from the Bangabandhu National Stadium from 5 pm.
Earlier in the day, Brothers Union will take on Chittagong Mohammedan in the third-place playoff at the same venue.
The winners will take away Tk one crore and the richest prize ever in any domestic competition has already attracted strong crowds to the eight-team tournament which began on March 11.
Abahani, who won all three group matches, eliminated Brothers Union 3-2 on aggregate in the two-leg semifinals while Mohammedan ousted their Chittagong namesake 3-2 in the penalty shootout after the semifinals finished 1-1 on aggregate.
The most valuable player will receive a car while the best goalkeeper and the best referee (local) will receive Tk one lakh and 50,000 respectively.
