Super-sub Mithun Chowdhury hit an injury time winner to help Mohammedan Sporting Club secure a dramatic 4-3 win over 10-man Brothers Union in their last match of first phase in the Bangladesh Premier League on Saturday. In the second match of the day, Team BJMC managed a convincing 3-0 win over Muktijoddha Sangshad Krira Chakra. It was BJMC’s fourth win in 11 matches that took them in sixth position with 15 points while Muktijoddha remained on 10th position with seven points.
Mithun, who came from the bench to replace Zahid Hasan Ameli in the 80th minute, struck the winner in the first minute of the five-minute added time to give Mohammedan full three points.
It was Mithun’s second successive goal in as many matches as a super-sub as the former national team forward shocked Muktijoddha Sangshad with a late goal in the previous match to secure a 2-1 win.
With the win, Mohammedan finished their first phase in fifth position with 17 points from 11 matches while Brothers were sharing the bottom place with Farashganj Sporting Club with six points.
