Shortage of dustbins blamed
Shortage of dustbins forces the people in Sylhet city to dump wastes into canals, drains and road-sides, polluting environment and posing threat to public health.
Not a single dustbin has been installed in the city after Sylhet district town was upgraded into the city corporation about a decade ago, according to statistics available with the corporation.
Although population of the city and its area have increased by more than five times by this time but the Sylhet City Corporation authorities have not installed any dustbin.
‘The number of dustbins operative in the city has reduced 92 from the total 140 installed by the then municipal authorities as
