Chhayanaut artistes presented a number of Tagore songs at the monthly Tagore evening Geetmalika on Thursday at the
Ramesh Chandra Dutt Centre of the institute.
Chhayanaut arranges such a programme on the last Friday of every month. But this month it was on a Thursday due to unavailability of halls.
In a very ordinary arrangement and decoration the artistes performed at the programme which began with the chorus performance of Tagore’s devotional number Amar matha noto kore dao that set a tranquil ambiance at the hall.
Other chorus presentations were the rendition of the songs like Modhur dhani baje and Amar praner manush ache prane.
Among the solo rendition Mijanur Rahman Taslim’s presentation of devotional number Chorono dhorite diogo amare; Chanchal Krishna Boral’s Jodi jantem amar kiser byatha; and Tarun Karmakar’s Mone robe kina robe amare were well appreciated by the audience at the hall.
Another laudable presentation of the day was a duet by Tarun Karmakar and Kamrunnahar Abedin Jhorna who presented the evergreen number Sedin dujone dulechhinu bone.
Like in previous Geetmalika programmes, a guest singer is invited at the event. On Thursday, Sharmin Ahmed Lipi was present as the guest singer where her presentation of Jagorone jay bibhabori and Badol dhara holo sara entertained all.
Besides the songs, Tania Tofael Haque recited two of Tagore letters from Chhinnopatra which describe the beauty of Shahjadpur of Bangladesh, the place where Tagore spent many days and nights. ‘I never miss the monthly programme. I enjoy listening to the songs here sitting on the rug,’ said a delighted Rakib Hasan.
