The Taka Jadughar (currency museum), set up on the second floor of the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, will be inaugurated on October 5.
Speakers of the Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will inaugurate the museum.
Old currencies starting from the Uari Bateshwar era to the Sultanate, the Mughal and the British periods and the present day ones will be the key attraction of the museum, said a Bangladesh Bank press release.
To enrich the collection of the museum, BB executive directors Dasgupta Ashim Kumar and M Mahfuzur Rahman handed over 90 and 96 coins from their personal collection respectively to BB governor Atiur Rahman on Tuesday.
Numismatic Society of Bangladesh joint general secretary Nazmul Haq Montu also handed over a number of ancient coins to the BB governor on the day.
Side by side with continuing the drive to collect old coins and paper money, efforts are on to install digital signage, touch screens and LCD monitors to equip the museum as a state of the art, rich in information and technology-based currency museum, added the release.
