Tamim Iqbal, who missed the series against New Zealand, will also receive a plot and a car as other players in the Bangladesh squad will, officials said on Tuesday. Bangladesh recorded a clean sweep victory against New Zealand.
The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, announced the awards at a reception in her residence days after the series win, Bangladesh’s first against a full-strength Test-playing nation.
The Bangladesh Cricket
Board prepared a list of 18 cricketers for the award and Tamim is one on the list. Tamim, who was present in the reception, missed the series because of injury although he was allowed to stay in the dressing room.
‘He has been included in the list as a non-playing member,’ manager Tanjib Ahsan Saad told reporters. ‘It is also recognition of his being named as Wisden-Crickter magazine Test player of the year.’
