Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal was unable to deliver with the bat as his franchise St Lucia Zouks registered their first win in the inaugural Caribbean Premier League T20 against Guyana Amazon Warriors in Guyana on Sunday.
Tamim made only six runs from eight balls with the help of a boundary before being adjudged leg before wicket off the bowling of Veerasammy Permaul even though replays suggested the ball struck his glove rather than his pads.
Guyana posted 126-6 in their 20 overs as Tamim also effected a run-out, that of New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin with a direct hit from mid-off.
In reply, St Lucia reached their target with five wickets and three balls in hand.
This was St Lucia’s first win in their second outing.
