Tamim Iqbal sent a warning to his rivals ahead of the Dhaka Premier League by scoring a blistering ton for Abahani Limited in a practice match against Prime Bank in Fatullah on Tuesday.
The elegant left-handed opener, who was away from the game for the last three weeks in order to spent time with his new-born son and perform an Umrah, played shots all around the ground to score 139 runs off just 90 balls.
Tamim struck 18 boundaries and five sixes before he was caught by Sabbir Rahman in the bowling of Shuvagata Hom.
Tamim said that the innings will make him confident ahead of the league.
‘I think it will boost my confidence,’ said Tamim.
‘I hope to continue in this flow throughout the league and help my team clinch the championship.’
Title-favourite Abahani beat Prime Bank by 75 runs to end the preparation for the league.
Batting first, Abahani rode on Tamim’s century to post 322-9 before dismissing defending champions Prime Bank for 247.
