England captain Andrew Strauss has returned to the top 20 while Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal has achieved a career-best ranking in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen after good performances in the Lord’s Test which concluded on Monday.
Strauss, who scored 83 and 82 in England’s eight-wicket victory, has jumped five places to 19th spot to become England’s highest-ranked batsman.
Jonathan Trott, who also had a memorable Test by stroking his career-best 226, has jumped 22 places to share 38th spot with Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan.
However, Kevin Pietersen, who scored 18 and 10 not out, has slipped one place to 23rd spot, opener Alastair Cook has dropped five positions to 24th spot after managing seven and 23 runs in the two innings and Ian Bell has fallen two places to 30th position.
Opener Tamim Iqbal leads the charge of Bangladesh batsman in the latest rankings by achieving career-best ranking of 25th by leaping six places following his impressive innings of 55 and 103.
Zunaid Siddique, who scored two half-centuries in the Test, has climbed six places to 50th position while opener Imrul Kayes, who scored 43 and 75, has rocketed 25 places to sit just outside the top 100 in 104th spot.
The list is headed by India opener Virender Sehwag with South Africa’s Hashim Amla second and Mahela Jayawardena third.
In the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers, man of the match Steven Finn has vaulted 48 places to occupy 48th position after figures of 4-100 and 5-89.
Bangladesh fast bowler Shahadat Hossain, who took 5-98 in England’s first innings score of 505, has also improved his ranking by one place and now sits in 36th position.
The major slips in the bowling table are Graeme Swann who has dropped two places to fifth after going wicketless in the Test and Shakib Al Hasan who has also slipped to 14th spot after match figures of 3-157.
South Africa’s Dale Steyn leads the bowlers’ field with Mitchell Johnson second and Pakistan’s Mohammad Asif in third after benefitting from Swann’s fall.
