Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal may skip last-phase match of Bangladesh Cricket League as precaution of his knee injury ahead of upcoming home series against India, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Monday. Tamim went to Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday to get an update on his next course of action for his latest injury that made him suffer to some extents in the just concluded home series against Pakistan.
Tamim suffered an injury on his right knee while he was fielding during his stint with Islami Bank in BCL one-day version and went through with some rehab before the home series against Pakistan.
Tamim managed to come out bravely scoring two back to back centuries in the one-day internationals and followed that with a double hundred in the opening Test match at Khulna.
BCB officials are thinking to put him in a rehab to get him fully fit against India in the upcoming home series beginning from mid June.
‘We are thinking of putting him into a rehab as there is no major damage done to his earlier injury,’ said Debashish Chowdhury, a BCB physician.
‘We are also thinking whether we will allow him or not to play in the BCL’s last phase, though he said that he will not be having any problem with that,’ Debashish said.
