Bangladesh heaved a sigh of relief as the blow that opener Tamim Iqbal received in the training on Monday appeared nothing but a routine bruise.
Young pacer Taskin Ahmed struck Tamim in his ankle with a yorker off the first ball the left-hander was facing in the net at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.Tamim limped off the field and did not take any further part in the training.
‘Tamim’s injury appeared not very serious. He is felling much better now,’ selector Minhazul Abedin said on Tuesday.
‘Physio will observe his condition tomorrow [Wednesday] again. Hopefully he will be able to participate in the practice match that the team is scheduled to play on Thursday.’
Bangladesh will play two practice matches on August 7 and 9 as part of their preparation for the month-long West Indies tour, where they will play three one-day internationals, a Twenty20 International and two Tests.
The Tigers will leave home on August 13.
