Constable Nazmul Tareque, who was accused of harassing a college teacher for wearing “teep”, has been suspended today. Tutul Chakraborty, DC (Admin) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the development to The Daily Star.
He added that a three-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
Earlier, Biplob Kumar Sarker, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Division Police, said that the matter will be investigated and the truth will be shared following due process.
Tejgaon College teacher Lata Samaddar complained that a policeman harassed and hurled abusive words at her after seeing a teep on her forehead while she was going to the campus on Saturday.
