Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Saturday evening in a drive arrested school teacher Helal Uddin Orofa Panna Master from the capital’s Mohammadpur area on charges of raping school girls. Dhaka Metropolitan DB office Crime Analysis Cell Assistant Commissioner (AC) Rayhanul confirmed The Independent about the arrest. Panna was arrested from a rented flat of Mohammadpur with the help of technology, he said.
Panna, assistant teacher of Adrasha High school in the town, used to establish sexual relationship with some school and college girls, coming to his rented house at Aruapara in the town to receive private tuition.
His four associates-Alimuzzaman Tutul, executive engineer of Islamic University, Kushtia Jubo League leader Monirul Islam, assistant engineer of LGED in Jessore Dulal Hossain and Shariful Islam Sajal, assistant engineer of Gangni upazila LGED, were also involved in the illicit acts at the house, locals said.
The culprits recorded the acts through hidden video camera and later released those on Internet and mobile phones. Locals and students of different schools under Kushtia Sadar upazila staged demonstration demanding arrest of Panna and his four associates, involved in this heinous crime.
