Academic activities at both Khulna University and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology are being seriously hampered as teachers are on a work abstention programme.
The teachers of all departments at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology went on a work abstention for an indefinite period on Monday to press home their four-point demand.
The demands are disclosure of the probe report on the incident of physical assault on Professor Arif Hossain on the campus on January 2, punishment for posting vulgar remarks on facebook and blog about a teacher of civil engineering department on March 4, disgraceful slogans on campus raised by a group of students against head of mechanical engineering department Professor Muhammod Masud and vandalism committed on the private car of a teacher of electrical and electronics department of the university on April 2.
‘We will go for tougher programme if all our demands are not met by May 13,’ said general secretary of KUET Teachers’ Association Professor Faruk Hossain.
All examinations of the university have remained suspended because of the indefinite work abstention by teachers.
Teachers of Khulna University on Tuesday started refraining from all academic activities for an indefinite period to press home their three-point demands.
The demands are arrest and exemplary punishment to those who masterminded attack on general secretary of KU Teachers’ Association ARM Mostafizur Rahman on April 26, removal of all complications which stall to improvement in his office service and legal and departmental action against former vice-chancellor Professor Saifuddin Shah for grabbing and selling land of the university.
Vice-chancellor Professor Fayekuzzaman said that he would sit with the teachers very soon to resolve the crisis.
