Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s film Television, produced by Impress Telefilm has been nominated for the prestigious
Asia Pacific Screen Academy Award.
The Academy declared the nomination on November 12 in a press conference in Australia, said Faridur Reza Sagor managing director of Impress Telefilm.
Television has been nominated in two categories – best film and best screenplay categories. Asia Pacific Screen Academy award is the most prestigious award in the region. Every year, the nomination council selects five films for each of the five categories – best film, best screenplay, best cinematographer, best actor (male) and best actor (female).
However, this year six films have been nominated for each of the categories.
This year a total of 241 films from 31 countries are competing for the awards. Many noted films from the Cannes, Venice and Berlin festival have also been nominated. On December 12, Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, Anisul Haque, Faridur Reza Sagor and Nusrat Imroz Tisha willbe flying for Australia to attend the award giving ceremony.
To note, earlier Television has been screened in Busan International Film Festival in 2012, got a commercial release in Korea, has been aired in Malaysian television giant Astro and most importantly the film will be representing Bangladesh at the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film in the upcoming 86th edition of the Oscars.
