Javier Mascherano has said Argentina lacked just a little bit of luck to beat Chile in the 2015 Copa América final, adding he will have to think about his continuity in the Albiceleste. “This is torture. I can’t fin a reason, maybe it’s me. Again we lacked some good luck to win the final match. It’s some king of bad karma, I don’t know,” the iconic Argentine midfielder told reporters after the game.
Chile won the Copa America for the first time when they beat Argentina 4-1 on penalties after the match had ended 0-0 following 90 minutes and extra-time.
“I am one of the oldest players in the team. I can’t think about the team’s future so much, we have to go on holidays and let this wound heal,” he added.
“This is a big blow. We have been doing things relatively well for this to happen to us. These are big blows and I start wondering… maybe I need to step aside and let someone else come. But this is not the time to make that call. We have lost, now we have to suffer… and then we’ll have time to think.”
