A three-day film festival to help an ailing mother of a film activist will conclude today at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
Bangladesh Short Film Forum, in association with Cultural Affairs Ministry, has organised the festival titled ‘Dui Banglar Chalachitra Utsab: Mayer Jonno’, featuring nine films from Bangladesh and West Bengal.
The festival aims to help film activist Fazle Rabbi’s mother Shahan Ara Begum, who is being treated for cancer in New Delhi and needs Tk 20 lac for her treatment.
The festival was inaugurated on Sunday by information minister Hasanul Haque Inu who was present as the chief guest. Nasiruddin Yousuff, president of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote; noted filmmaker Morshedul Islam, Indian film directors Goutam Ghose and Buddhadev Dasgupta were also present at the event.
Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s recent feature film Television was the opening film of the festival. Morshedul Islam’s Amar Bondhu Rashed and Gautam Ghose’s Shunnya Anko were also screened on the opening day.
Buddhadev Dasgupta’s Laal Dorja and Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa, and Indian filmmaker Mrityunjay Devvrat’s recently released film Children of War were screened on Monday.
Nasiruddin Yousuff’s Guerrilla, Kamar Ahmad Simon’s documentary Are You Listening and Gautam Ghosh’s Moner Manush will be screened today at the same venue.
The screenings take place in three shows at 10:00am, 3:00pm and 6:00pm. The tickets of the shows are being sold in five price categories, ranging from Tk 100 to 500.
