Three people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Narsingdi and Chittagong yesterday.
A correspondent from Narsingdi reports : Two people were killed and another was injured in a road accident when a passenger bus collided head-on with a covered van on Dhaka-Gazipur road near Bagdi area of Palash upazila yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Bachchu Mia, 40, a covered van driver and Moktar Hossain, 28, a sales representative of a pharmaceutical company.
Locals said the accident occurred at about 4:00pm when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Bhairav collided head-on with a covered van of Glaxo Pharmaceutical, leaving the two dead on the spot and injuring Yousuf, 25.
Police seized the bus and covered van and sent the bodies to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
A correspondent from Ctg adds : One person was killed in a road accident on oxygen road near bayzid at Shershah Maij Para in the port city yesterday.
Police identified the deceased as Anwar Hossain, 30, of Bangla Bazar of the port city.
Police said the accident took place when a truck hit Anwar while he was crossing the road at Shershah Maij Para in front of the Chowdhury Garment at about 11:15am.
Locals rushed him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Kalam, sub-inspector of Bayazid Police Station, said police arrested the truck driver Julu mia, 48, and seized the truck from the spot and filed a case against the driver with the police station in this connection.
