At least three people were killed and another injured in separate road accidents in Madaripur, Gopalganj and Khagrachhari on Saturday night and yesterday.
A correspondent from Madaripur reports : A local Sechchhasebok League leader was killed in a road accident when he lost control of his motorcycle and fell into a roadside ditch at Kalkini upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman Milon, 35, son of Shahjahan Matabbor of Sadar upazila and general secretary of Sadar upazila Sechchhasebok League.
Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kalkini Police Station, said the accident occurred at about 10:00pm when Milon lost his control over his motorcycle near Khaleker intersection and fell into a roadside ditch while he was going to upazila cooperative bazaar from Kalkini upazila Sadar, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rushed to Madaripur Sadar Hospital in a critical condition.
Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 3:30am.
A correspondent from Gopalganj adds : A man was killed and another injured in a road accident at Mission intersection at Kotalipara upazila yesterday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Miraj Molla, 30, of Ghagorkanda upazila and the injured is Mizan Sardar.
Locals said the accident occurred when a speedy motorcycle collided head-on with a Tomtom (locally made battery run three-wheeler) coming from opposite direction, leaving the Tomtom driver Miraj dead on the spot and injuring the motorcyclist Mizan.
Our correspondent from Khagrachhari says: A minor girl was crushed under the wheels of a speedy bus at Tintohary of Manikchhari upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Dipa Dey, 5, daughter of Prodip Kumar Dey of Tintohary.
People said the accident was occurred when a Khagrachhari-bound passenger bus from Chittagong hit Dipa while she was crossing the road.
Locals admitted Dipa to Manikchhari Upazila Health Complex that referred her to Chittagong Medical Collage Hospital but she died on the way to the hospital.
