The national cricketers took part in a unique exercise in training yesterday by pedalling rickshaws around the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
On the fifth day of their scheduled six-day training camp, Tigers captain Mushfiqur Rahim led the way after the support staff got hold of the four rickshaws from the nearby Pahartali area.
Trainer Grant Luden said that it was part of the programme that was set in Dhaka, though it was all done in a relaxed atmosphere.
“We planned it from Dhaka. We tried to do something different for the boys, apart from running, gym, etc,” he said. “It was almost like a rest day so it was good fun for the players, who enjoyed it a lot.”
As they raced around the Chittagong stadium, either a teammate or the original rickshaw-puller enjoyed the ride.
Team manager Zahid Razzak Masum said that it was coach Stuart Law who took the initiative.
“I think the coach is trying to bring some changes in practice sessions so that the players stay happy. We have seen before when a new coach comes, he tries to add some new innovative ideas in practice to boost the players, who might be tired of the same kind of exercise or training method,” said the former national cricketer.
