Bangladesh national cricketers under Bangladesh Cricket Board payroll have requested for an increase in their salary, said a BCB official on Sunday. Naimur Rahman, the chairman of cricket operations department of the BCB, confirmed they received such a request from senior cricketers. ‘Yes, they have requested whether the board can increase their salary,’ Naimur told New Age. ‘We promised them to look into the matter.’
Currently 14 cricketers are under BCB payroll splitting in five categories.
The A + category is formed with Tigers one-day skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza, Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim along with Sakib al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Mahmudullah.
Each of them has been drawing Tk Two lakh as monthly salary from BCB.
There is no one in A category where stipulated salary per month is Tk 1, 70,000 per month.
In B category there are – Rubel Hossain, Nasir Hossain, Imrul Kayes, who receive Tk 1, 20,000 per month.
Mominul Haque, Anamul Haque, Shafiul Islam are in C category and they receive Tk 90,000 per month.
Left-arm spinners Taijul Islam, Arafat Sunny and pacer Al-Amin Hossain is in D category and they earn Tk 60, 000 per month.
The current contract between the players and BCB will expire in December.
