Miscreants looted Tk 13 lakh after hacking two officers of a private company Transcom Limited Sunday afternoon in the Sylhet city.
The injured were Transcom Limited’s Sylhet office account in-charge Mahbubur Rahman and its cash officer Monir Hossain, sources in the company said.Being contacted, Transcom Llimited Sylhet office in-charge Anwar Hossain said six miscreants, coming in 2 motorcycles, swooped on Mahbubur Rahman and Monir Hossain in front of the Dargah Gate branch of Prime Bank at around 3:45pm.
‘The miscreants hacked them with sharp weapons and then snatched away the bag containing Tk 13 lakh,’ Anwar Hossain said, adding that the two officers were going to the Prime Bank at Dargah Gate in the city in an auto-rickshaw from the company’s Noya Sarak office to deposit the money.
He said that they were preparing to file a case with the Kotwali police in this connection still 6:00pm on Sunday.
Being contacted, Kotwali police officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman said they visited the spot immediately after they were informed of the incident.
‘Drive to arrest the criminals involved with frequent incidents of looting is being conducted at all provable places in the city,’ the police officer said.
Earlier, at noon, another group of armed miscreants looted Tk 3 lakh of a construction firm owner from Zindabazar in the city, sources in the police said.
