The Bangladesh railway authorities on Thursday suspended all railway services across the country for about four hours fearing sabotage shortly after the execution of Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Molla. Dhaka divisional railway manager Sardar Shahadat Ali told New Age that the authorities had suspended all train services for about four hours for the safety and security of passengers and trains.
‘Now we have resumed the train services,’ he said at about 2:15am.
Earlier, an on-duty officer at railway’s Dhaka division control room had said notice was served to all railway stations to take all trains to the nearby stations and keep them there until further notice.
Abdul Quader Molla was executed by hanging at 10:01pm on Thursday.
The Appellate Division on September 17 sentenced him to death on a government appeal against the Tribunal 2 verdict, which on February 5 had sentenced him to life in prison.
