Veteran singer of the country Shahnaz Rahmatullah will get an honourary award from City Bank NA for her contribution to music and culture at a tributary programme at the Radisson Water Garden Hotel today.
Shanaz Rahmatullah has been one of the most popular singers of the country since the 1950s. Recently, the singer has given up singing as she is leading a spiritual life. But as it is a tributary programme she will present two of her most famous songs Ekbar jete de na and Je chhilo dristir simanay.
‘I appreciate such tributary programmes. I have been in music for more than fifty years, have got people’s love and respect, and achieved numerous awards too. I am content as an artiste,’ Shahnaz Rahmatullah told New Age.
Shahnaz Rahmatullah has selected the noted singer Samina Chowdhury to present her songs on the occasion. ‘Samina’s voice and style of singing suits my songs well. That is why I selected her to present my songs on the occasion,’ said Shahnaz Rahmatullah.
Samina expressed her happiness to New Age for getting the chance to sing Shahnaz Rahmatullah’s songs. ‘Shahnaz Rahmatullah is one of the singers whose songs are something I have grown up with. It is a great pleasure for me to present her songs in front of her,’ expressed a delighted Samina to New Age.
On the occasion Samina will present Shahnaz Rahmatullah’s popular numbers like Sagorer tir theke, Sagorer soikote, Amay Jodi proshno kore, Phuler kane bhromor ese, Parina bhule jete, Aro kichhu dao na dukhho.
