Bangladesh Under-14 girls’ team was given a warm reception when they returned home on Monday after clinching the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship for Central and South Asia.
Bangladesh beat India 4-0 in the final in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Sunday to emerge unbeaten champions in the tournament. ‘We had a very good preparation for the tournament,’ captain Marjia told reporters upon the team’s arrival late on Monday.
‘We knew we have a very good chance to win the tournament. Our coaches told us not to think anything other than winning the title. We are happy that we could win the tournament. ‘
Tohura struck a hat-trick for Bangladesh in the final while Anuching scored the other goal.
Bangladesh beat India 1-0 in group phase before qualifying for the semi-final with a thumping 9-0 win over Nepal. They stormed into the final by beating hosts Tajikistan 9-1.
