Two officials of the Detective Branch Police were closed on Friday over an allegation of receiving a handsome amount of bribe from a businessman. The suspended officials of Detective Branch (DB) of DMP are inspector Azhar Uddin and Sub-Inspector Abul Hasnat. A probe committee led by Joint Commissioner of DB Monirul Islam of DB has also been formed to investigate the matter, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anawar Hossain.
The committee was formed after two national dailies published news implicating Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mollah Nazrul Islam in receiving Tk.1.5 crore bribe from the businessman after confining him. Two suspended officials worked under his supervision.
DB high officials said they were looking into the matter. The official was closed for the sake of proper investigation.
