Two college students went missing in Padma River in Shrirampur area of Rajshahi city on Saturday.
The Missing – Golam Sarwar Sayem, 19, son of Saidur Rahman from Meherchandi area and Rifat Khandokar, 19, son of the late Gazi Moin Uddin from Dargapara area of the city are XI class students of Rajshahi Cantonment Public School and College, the naval Police said.
Shahriar Reza, officer-in-charge of Rajshahi Metropolitan Naval Police, said that Sayem and Rifat along with their friends went to the Padma char to play football on Saturday morning.
When they were bathing in the river, the duo suddenly went missing, he added.
Md Ohidul Islam, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Rajshahi divisional office, said that on information a team of four drivers were conducting a search operation in the river but till the filing of this report at about 4:45pm, there was still no sign of the students.
