Bangladesh Under-16 women’s football team coach Golam Rabbani Choton hoped that his charges would offer a good challenge to Australia in their final Group B match of the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship on Sunday. Both Bangladesh and Australia have already been ruled out of the competition after defeats in their first two matches. Both sides conceded 12 goals in their respective two matches.
Bangladesh, who were thrashed by defending champions North Korea 0-9 in their first match, gave a much improved performance in their second match on Thursday losing only by 0-3 goals to the three-time champions Japan.
Considering their last match performance Choton believed that the match against Australia would be very competitive.
‘Yesterday [Thursday] our girls played much better than the first match against North Korea,’ Choton said on Friday.
‘Australia are also a strong team but as our girls performed well in their last match against Japan, I hope they would put a good show against them.
Goalkeeper Mahmuda, who performed brilliantly against mighty Japan, hoped to lift their game further after an improved show against Japan.
‘Our team is developing and showing better performances match by match,’ she said.
‘In the previous match against Japan we performed well. Coach gave me a chance to play against Japan and I tried to show my ability.’
