Fourteen leading bands of the country are going to rock Chittagong MA Aziz Stadium at a grand concert titled Say No to Violence Against Woman: Be a Real Man on 26 November.
The concert will begin at 12:30pm.
UNFPA and BAMBA are jointly organising the concert.
To inform more about the upcoming concert, a press conference was held at Hotel Sonargaon on wednesday.
Arthur Erken, UNFPA Bangladesh Representative, attended the event as chief guest and BAMBA President Hamin Ahmed, along with Afsana Taher, its operations manager, Aiyub Bachchu of LBR, Tipu of Warfaze and representatives of media partners — ntv, Radio Foorti, and banglanews24.com were present at the press conference.
The BAMBA president, at the press conference, asked people from all walks of life, specially, the youths, to join the protest concert and voice ‘no’ to all forms of violence against woman at home and work.
He also asked them to put an end to eve-teasing. He further said we would like to convey this message through music.
Aiyub Bachchu said, “A girl, who is either sexually harassed or tortured for dowry or abused in any means, has the right to protest as well, but she does not do so because she knows that she will evidently be treated as the victim by the society.”
Arthur Erken, UNFPA Bangladesh representative, expressed his happiness for having BAMBA associated with the event.
He said, “Every woman has the right to live with dignity. She has the right to live a life free of fear, violence and discrimination.”
He emphasised this issue and said men are are imposing this inhumane practice towards women, so it is our duty to refrain them from doing such and make others, specially the next generation, realise that a real man simply does not commit violence against woman.
On the other hand, renowned singers from BAMBA called upon the women and the girls in the society to be more conscious against the evildoers.
The concert will feature LRB, Nagar Baul, Miles, Warfaze, Feedback, Pentagon, Aurthohin, Prometheus, Artcell, Crypticfate, Black, Nemesis, Powersurge and Beduin.
The media partners of the event are, ntv, Radio Foorti and banglanews24.com.
