United Airways Ltd, a private airliner, on Wednesday launched its first flight on Dhaka-Ishwardi route. Civil aviation and tourism minister Faruk Khan inaugurated the flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. State minister for home Shamsul Huq Tuku, United Airways director general Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury and high officials concerned were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Initially, United Airways would operate two flights a week on Saturdays and Mondays with 37-seater DASH-8-100 aircraft from November 18. The airfare for one-way had been fixed at Tk 4,000, including all taxes, while for return at Tk 8,000, said a press release.
The flights would take off at 2:10pm from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and reach Ishwardi Airport at 2:50pm while the flights would fly to Dhaka at 3:10pm from Ishwardi, the release said.
United Airways would start operating flights on Dhaka-Singapore route on November 4. It had also plans to start operation on Dhaka-Delhi, Dhaka-Karachi, Dhaka-Yangon, Dhaka-Dammam and Dhaka-Doha routes.
