BNP chairperson and leader of opposition Khaleda Zia said she would never allow Awami League-led grand alliance government to hold the next general election keeping it remain intact in power.
“The next general election is a must under a non-party caretaker government oversight. The next general poll would not be allowed to hold under the ruling party government management,” she said. She was talking to reporters while a good number of leaders went to meet her at her Gulshan office tonight (Monday) after their release from jail in connection with setting fire and creating obstruction during a rally in front of the party’s Naya Paltan central office on March 11.
Khaleda Zia urged the government to run the country in the peoples’ interest as the present government is not the final one.
She assailed the government for indulging in repressive acts on the opposition party men and said, “No body will remain in power forever. Please run the country in the interest of its people and democracy. Otherwise consequence will never good.”
The country has been made bankruptcy due to the misdeeds and misrules of the government. The people have got fed-up with it repressive acts and they want to get rid from this, she added.
“The countrymen are prepared to pay a befitting reply to the ruling party in the next general election for its acts of repression on the opposition party men,” she said.
About the proposed national budget, Khaleda Zia said the government has placed a big size of budget aiming at misuse of the public money.
“We know the proposed national budget is nothing but big which has been placed in the parliament to plunder peoples’ money in a planned way,” he blamed.
She said the country’s business and local and foreign level investment are facing a severe crisis due to the government mismanagement. The export and import volume are decreased resulting the country is heading towards a severe financial setback, she added.
Khaleda Zia said leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League equipped with arms are engaged in launching attacks on the opposition party men. Killing, abduction, snatching and hijacking have made a regular phenomena in the country, she alleged.
Calling upon her party men to be united against the government’s misdeeds, Khaleda Zia said better day is coming to evaluate dedicated leadership of the grassroots level leaders and workers.
“We will build a prosperous country with the leadership dedicated and repressed leaders if voted to power in the next general election,” she said.
