Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif was satisfied after his charges defeated Team BJMC 2-0 in the first practice match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Promising marksman Wahed
Ahmed scored both the goals.
The young striker impressed the Dutch coach, who had picked him from the Super Cup.
The 43-year-old coach is likely name his 23-member squad on Saturday or Sunday and before that he observed the new players who joined the national camp for the first time and some players who returned to the national team after a long time.
‘We are trying to finalise the national team on Saturday or Sunday. Almost every player had the opportunity to show themselves to the coaches and to the other players in today’s practice match. A few players are injured and some of the players have
been given rest because I know them very well,’ said Kruif after the practice match.
‘It’s too early to say anything about the game plan as we still have two months’ time. We have to be on top form to play the game. The training went well. We still have a few players who are injured, that is a problem because footballers like Zahid and Rony are good. We need them in the team,’ he
added.
Kruif’s starting eleven contained those players who did not play in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers in Nepal in
March but his second eleven’s performance satisfied Kruif more than the first eleven.
‘It’s good to see them play for 45 minutes, second half was better. I’m happy with the boys and with the result.
‘Especially Wahed is very tough player for every defender. I first saw him playing in the Super Cup but nobody told me about him before,’ said the Dutch coach.
