The Walton LED Television Umpires’ five-a-side hockey tournament came to an end on Sunday at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium as Abdul Malek Chunnu hockey five claimed a close 8-7 win over Ataul Haque Mallick hockey five in the final.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid attended the programme as the chief guest and handed over the prizes to the winners and runners-up. FM Iqbal Anwar, additional director of RB Group, was also present, among others.
The champions were awarded an LCD television, while mobile phones were awarded to Selim Lucky and Mamun Mortuza, the tournament’s best player and highest goal-scorer respectively.
