The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday announced Walton as the title sponsor for the upcoming Bangladesh-Australia Test series.
The two-match Test series will be called ‘Walton Test Series Bangladesh-Australia’ powered by Marcel, said BCB officials during a press conference at Mirpur on Tuesday.Walton secured the sponsorship rights from Axiom Technologies, a marketing company that was awarded the original rights.
Local electronics giant Walton returned as the title sponsor of a home series after four years.
Last time they sponsored a home series was way back in 2011 when Bangladesh hosted West Indies.
The Tigers won the opening Twenty20 international match of the series and bowled West Indies out for 61 runs in the final one-day international for an eight-wicket win.
Executive director of Walton, SM Zahid Hasan, operation director Uday Hakim, additional
director of Marcel Motiur Rahman and Axiom’s managing director Rizwan Bin Faruq were present among others during the title-sponsor unveiling ceremony.
A youthful Australian side under new captain Steven Smith is expected to arrive in Dhaka on September 28.
They will begin their tour with a three-day match against a BCB XI at Fatullah from October 3-5.
The two Test matches are scheduled from October 9- 13 and October 17-21 respectively in Chittagong and Dhaka.
