Wang of China reached the quarterfinal of the boys’ singles competition of the Dhaka Bank 23rd Bangladesh International Junior Tennis Championship defeating Indian Sumeet Shinde at Ramna National Tennis Complex, Dhaka on Wednesday.
Wang scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over his Indian counterpart in the third round competition to make it to the last eight of the tournament.
In the other matches of the day, Saai Naveen (India) beat Mao Jui (Chinese Taipei) 5-7, 6-2, 6-0; Liang (Chinese Taipei) beat Wang Chieh-Fu (Chinese Taipei) 7-5, 7-5; Jayaprakash (India) beat Prajoubphansri (Thailand) 7-6, 6-3; M Thomson (Great Britain) beat Khundarnpintvon (Thailand) 7-5, 6-1; Patrombon (Philippines) beat Pan Yuan Tao (China) 6-3, 7-5; Nakireddi (India) beat Du Bai Dong (China) 6-3, 2-6, 6-3; D Thomson (Great Britain) beat Chuang (Chinese Taipei) 6-3, 6-3 in the other third round fixtures of the boys’ singles competitions.
In the girls’ singles event, Kumkhum (Thailand) beat Thombare Prarthana (India) 6-0, 6-2; Lee Hua Chen (Chinese Taipei) beat Bayliss Sian (Great Britain) 2-6, 6-3, 6-3; Tsao (Chinese Taipei) beat Raina Ankita (India) 7-5, 6-1; Hong (Korea) beat Thirumalaichelvam (Malaysia) 6-2, 6-0; Patel Nova (India) beat Huang (Chinese Taipei) 6-0, 7-6; Upapong (Thailand) beat Huynh Phuong Dai (Vietnam) 7-5, 6-3; Jayawickrema (Sri Lanka) beat Yea Hyojung (Korea) 6-0, 6-1, Schuurs (Netherlands) beat Mertens Elise (Belgium) 6-2, 6-2.
