Singer Waqeel Ahad has already gained popularity in the music arena of the country through his fusion works where he mixes eastern lyrics with western music. To further his range of works, Waqeel has attempted to create music against social and environment issues.
Waqeel Ahad has recently written, composed and sang a song on sound pollution. ‘We are really concerned with thousands of other issues but seldom think about sound pollution, especially created by honking of motor vehicles. Sound pollution is killing us slowly and we hardly seem to do anything in that regard,’ said Ahad, who further told that he has composed a song titled Pothocharir Artonad to create awareness amongst the masses about the issue.
The song is now being aired on the FM radio stations of the country and will be released online by Mushroom Entertainment soon. ‘I have released the song on FM radios as I want drivers to listen to the song as they often listen to FM radios when they are driving,’ said Ahad.
Earlier, Waqeel Ahad has also created songs about other environmental and social issues. Ahad’s song Ar Koto Gaach Kata Holey Gaach Kata Hobey Sara was on deforestation while Pakhira to Hingsa Korey Na on the movement of Visa Free World.
Ahad has recently won MTV Platinum Disk Award for the music video of Amrito Meger Bari which topped the MTV Bangladesh’s chart for 12 weeks.
He began learning music from Nazrul Academy where he got the opportunity to learn classical music under the supervision of Ustad Syed Zakir Hossain, Ustad Akhter Sadmani, Ful Mohammad Miah and other visiting maestros.
Waqeel emerged in the music industry through the song Cellphone amar cellphone, written and
composed by him, which was released with the mixed album Jhalmuri-2 in 2007.
