A mobile court of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Monday sealed off a jar water factory and fined two factories Tk one lakh at Jurain in the capital for supplying and marketing contaminated water in the name of pure drinking water. Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and the district administration jointly conducted the mobile court and sealed off Zoo Pure Drinking Water factory located at 170, Purba Dholairpar in Zurain. The magistrate also fined the factory manager Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer six months in jail.
Later, the mobile court conducted a drive at Abira Enterpise at 84, Zurain and fined its manager Tk 50,000, in default, to serve a three-month jail term for using BSTI sign illegally, according to a BSTI release.
The court also sealed the company considering its activities as harmful for public health.
The mobile court conducted the drive under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Abeda Afsari.
