A mobile court yesterday fined Tk 3.5 lakh to the owner and manager of a mineral water producing factory and sentenced tits owner to 15 months imprisonment for running the plant without BSTI license.
The court also ordered to forfeit equipment and a pick-up van of the company in favour of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), says a press release.
The court headed by executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha and aided by Rab conducted the drive at Pani Pure Drinking Water in the city’s outskirts Turag.
The court sentenced the owner, Mainuddin Hossain Mamun, to one year and three months in jail and fined Tk 2.5 lakh, in default, he has to suffer three months more in jail.
It also fined Tk 1 lakh to Rubel Enam, manager of the factory, in default, he has to serve three-month more in jail.
The court also directed the authorities concerned to file a regular case against Nasiruddin Kushal, another owner of the factory.
