Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society and Chittagong Mohammedan SC won their respective Bangladesh League sixth round matches on Monday.
Rahmatganj got their third consecutive league triumph defeating Chittagong Abahani 1-0 at the Kamalapur stadium which lifted them to fifth place in the league table with 10 points.
The old Dhaka side’s Nigerian striker Paul McJames Nwuachcku scored the all important goal from his skipper Idris’ defence splitting pass in the 36th minute.
Chittagong Abahani came close to an equaliser two minutes later when their Liberian forward Othelo Banie’s header came back off the crosspiece. His second attempt from the rebound went over the post.
Away at the Cox’s Bazar stadium, hosts Chittagong Mohammedan SC came from one goal down to hand Farashganj Sporting Club a 2-1 defeat.
Sohel Rana put his Rahmatganj ahead in the 10th minute, scoring his third goal of the league. But Khaled Hossain levelled the score just a minute after the restart before his captain Ariful Kabir Farhad scored first goal of the season five minutes later to seal the fate of the match.
With this win Chittagong Mohammedan moved four steps up the ladder in seventh position.
