Husband’s extra-marital affair seen as reason; youth’s body recovered from pond
A woman was found dead at her Uttarkhan residence and the body of a youth was recovered at Madhya Badda, both in the capital in two separate incidents yesterday.
One of the victims is Khadiza Begum, 24, wife of garment worker Moyezuddin.
Khadiza’s younger brother Akkas Molla, 15, went to see her at her house at 9:00pm Friday night, said his elder brother Joynal Molla.
Akkas knocked at the door repeatedly but no one opened it. At one stage, he managed to peep inside through a window and there he saw his sister, lying motionless on a bed, added Joynal.
Police were called and the door was broken open at 12:30am only to find she was dead.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. According to the morgue sources, Khadiza had apparently been strangled, said Mohammad Yunus Ali, officer-in-charge of Uttarkhan Police Station.
Six years into her marriage, Khadiza came to know about her husband’s extramarital affair three months ago. They have had heated arguments occasionally ever since, said Joynal.
Moyezuddin and his four-year-old son Ripon are yet to be located. He might have killed her before making his getaway, said the OC.
As for the youth’s body, Badda police recovered it when it was floating on a pond behind Molla hotel at Madhya Badda around 7:00am.
He is Emdadul Hossain, 28, according to a driving licence police found in his pocket, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station.
The body, which bore marks of injury, has been sent to DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
