Aklima Begum, a housewife of village Marichbunia under Patuakhali, delivered four babies at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical Collage Hospital Thursday night after 14 years of her marriage.
Three of the neonatal babies are boys and rest one girl and till this report the mother and the babies were in a normal condition. Father of the babies Mahim Sikdar works as supervisor of a garment factory in Dhaka.
Dr Sohely and Dr Lata of SBMCH labour ward are taking care of the mother and babies and said the babies were delivered by caesarean operation and it also a record of the labour ward of SBMCH.
Assistant Professor of child department of SBMCH Dr Bikash Chandra Nag said that no physical difficulties of the children were identified till now. Weights of two children are normal but the other two were under-weight.
Akima said she married Mahim in 1998. They are financially happy but mentally unhappy for not having any baby in the last 14 years.
‘By the grace of almighty I became pregnant in the first week of January this year,’ she said.
