A housewife committed suicide on Thursday night to save herself from a stalker at Pabna.
Ayesha Khanam, 38, widow of Eusuf Ali of Hidashkhole village in Atghoria upazila, took poison, police and locals said.
Ayesha was immediately rushed to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Md Rawshan Ali, sub-inspector of Atghoria Police Station, quoting family members said “Shahid, a neighbour of Ayesha, used to stalk her. He often tried to force Ayesha to go into a relationship.”
“Ayesha might have committed suicide to save herself from this shame,” the SI said.
Police are trying to nab Shahid, he added.
