The latest World University Rankings for 2024, released by Times Higher Education (THE), have revealed that no Bangladeshi university made it to the top 800 institutions on the list.
This ranking was made public on Wednesday, unveiling that four Bangladeshi universities secured positions in the 801-1000 range.
The institutions in this range include Brac University, Dhaka University (DU), Jahangirnagar University (JU), and North South University (NSU).
Among Bangladeshi universities, they are followed by Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET), and Rajshahi University (RU) in the 1001-1200 bracket. Khulna University and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology were the last Bangladeshi universities ranked in this list in the 1201-1500 bracket.
According to these rankings, the top university in the world in 2024 is Oxford University, followed by Stanford University at second, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at third.
These rankings are based on “13-18 carefully calibrated performance indicators”, including teaching reputation, student staff ratio, research reputation, citation impact, international students, etc.
Last year, DU and NSU topped the rankings among Bangladeshi universities in the 601-800 bracket.
