Couple held for interrogation
Yet another blast within a span of two weeks took place in a house, owned by a Jamaat-e-Islami man, in the Chittagong city on Tuesday night.
The police arrested a couple and seized bomb making materials from the house at Rasulbag under Bakolia police station. Key suspect of the blast who might have link with Jamaat, however, fled, police said.
Police arrested Asadullah Ahmad, owner of the building, and his wife for interrogation.
But Sheikh Nasrullah, whom police deem as the key suspect, fled the scene after the blast.
Officer-in-charge of Bakolia police station Md Mohsin said the blast took place on the ground floor of a three storey building named Rafique Manjil.
On information of explosion, police rushed to the spot and arrested one who is said to be the elder brother of Sheikh Nasrullah, he added.
Police will dig out the design behind the blast as there might be a massive subversive plot, he further said.
On October 7, a powerful explosion took place at Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrassah, headed by Hefazat-e-Islam central leader Mufti Ijaharul Islam, at Lalkhan Bazar in Chittagong.
Three people who were injured in the blast died from their injuries.
