A young man allegedly killed his elder brother following a dispute over land at Moktarerchar in Naria upazila on Friday The deceased was identified as Motaleb Kazi, aged around 25, son of late Abdul Hamid Kazi of the upazila. Quoting locals, police said there had been a longstanding dispute between Motaleb Kazi and Shahjahan Kazi, sons of Abdul Hamid Kazi, over possession of a piece of ancestral land.
When Shahjahan went to the disputed land for cultivation in the evening, Motaleb raised an obstruction.
Barred, Shahjahan hit Motaleb with a fishing spear, leaving him critically injured.
Later Motaleb was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police could not arrest Shahjahan as he went into hiding after the incident.
