A mixed album featuring Bhawaiya songs, titled “Pubal Batash” was released on July 27 at the Seminar Hall of Central Public Library, Shahbagh, Dhaka. The album features 10 popular songs of the genre.
Lawmaker and noted media personality Asaduzzaman Noor was present as the chief guest at the programme.
Among others, journalist and author Anisul Haque, singers Dr. Nashid Kamal and Sajed Fatemi, and AKM Arifur Rahman, chairman, Laser Vision spoke at the launching ceremony. Laser Vision has produced the album.
At the programme, the speakers urged the authorities to take necessary steps to preserve and promote this indigenous form of music, which is very much a part of our cultural identity.
Sajed Fatemi conducted the necessary research for the album, while the music arrangement has been done by Masum. Most of the songs on the album were composed by legendary artiste Abbasuddin, Harolal Roy and Kachhim Uddin.
Featured songs include: “Shonar Koinna”, “Baokumta Batash”, “Pubal Batash”, “Oki Gariyal Bhai” and “Chilmarir Shokogatha”.
Dr. Nashid Kamal, Sajed Fatemi, Purno Chandra Roy and Nilufar Banu Lily are some of the singers featured in the album.
