Over 50 prominent and promising singers from inside and outside Dhaka presented Nazrul songs at the Bangladesh National Museum Auditorium.
The two-day Nazrul birth anniversary celebrations programme organised by Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sangstha ended on Sunday featuring music, dance and recitations performed by the
reputed and young artistes.The main attraction of the evening was rendition of timeless Nazrul songs by renowned singers like Khairul Anam Shakil, Ferdous Ara, Yasmin Mustary, Sumon Chowdhury and Joseph Komol Rodrix. A good number of audience enjoyed songs in both of the days.
Earlier, the celebrations programme was inaugurated by Nazrul exponent professor emeritus Dr Rafiqul Islam, who also delivered a commemorating speech on the national poet.
The discussion session was followed by presentation of Nazrul’s songs and poems.
Child artistes of the organisation presented inspirational Nazrul songs such as Dao shourjo dao dhourjo, Tora sab joyodhani kor and Bolo nahi bhoy in chorus.
Seasoned singer Khalid Hossain rendered a popular raga based Nazrul Sangeet titled Rim jhim ghano deya boroshe.
Popular singers Leena Taposhi Khan and Salauddin Ahmed also entertained the houseful audience rendering respectively Swapone esechhilo mridubhashini and Keu bhole na keu bhole.
Nazrul’s descendent Khilkhil Kazi presented one of Nazrul’s famous raga-based romantic numbers Meghla nishi bhore.
Popular recitation artiste Mahidul Islam amused the audience by reciting Nazrul’s long poem titled Obhibason.
A colourful dance recital performed by the artistes of Bhabna synchronised with an inspirational song Durgom giri kantar moru also entertained the audience.
