The seven struggling clubs of Bangladesh League will request the Bangladesh Football Federation to extend the players’ transfer deadline by 25 days allowing them to complete their player registration procedures.
Seven clubs – Brothers Union, Rahmatganj MFS, Farashganj SC, Arambagh KS, Chittagong Mohammedan SC, Chittagong Abahani and Feni Soccer Club – earlier informed the BFF about their inability to take part in the September 1-20 transfer window. They will ask the BFF to extend the bourse until October 15.
Amer Khan, the manager of Brothers Union, presented a clear picture. ‘All the clubs, more or less are dependant on the donation of their patrons and well-wishers and it is very hard to bring them all together within a short period. Moreover, with the Eid-ul-Fitr looming ahead, they do not want to make any financial dealings with the clubs, the situation will change after the Eid vacation and we will also be able to arrange funds for the footballers, so we have decided to start our registration process from October 1,’ said Amer.
Amer also pointed out that people will be busy with their Eid commitments from September 10 to 20 and there’s no point in taking a hurried course of action. He also added that the clubs have already started the recruitment process but need time to settle everything. He also mentioned that the window for registering foreign players should also remain open until October 15.
Meanwhile, defending champions Dhaka Abahani, runners-up Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Sheikh Russell KC, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and newcomers Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club are ready to complete their player registration formalities within the first week of September. Abahani may arrive on the very first day as they will leave the country to play in the Bordoloi Trophy in Assam.
Sheikh Russell also have completed their local players hunting with Mamun Khan, Al-Amin and Mostafa Pradhan as the goalkeepers, Linkon, Bappi, Mahfuz Babu, Uttam, Prodip Borua, Aminul and Rakibul as defenders, Mobarak, Emon Babu, Shahed, Mesbabul Huq Manik and Raju as midfielders and Yusuf and Wahed in the forward line.
Nurul Alam Chowdhury, president of Sheikh Russell KC, informed that he wants to bring in quality foreign players to strengthen the team. ‘We have been searching for good players from Morocco, Ghana, Brazil and Ivory Coast, let’s see which player meets our criteria,’ said Alam.
