SA Games champions India will meet silver medallists Nepal in the final of first ever SAFF Women’s Football Championship at the Cox’s Bazar stadium today.
India, who scored a total of 39 goals and conceded none in this tournament, thumped their opponents 3-1 in the SA Games final early this year. The Himalayan side is not far behind from their challengers, as they are also unbeaten in the competition with 34 goals in their tally.
India’s key weapon is their vigorous playing style while their neighbours will be depending on their opportunist forwards, led by Anu Lama who is the tournament’s second highest scorer with 11 goals. India’s Shashmita is leading the scorers’ list with 13 goals to her name.
