Rahmatganj MFS came from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw against Feni Soccer Club in their Grameenphone Bangladesh League match at the Kamalapur stadium on Tuesday.
The result however gave Feni Soccer their first point in the league as they lost to Chittagong Mohammedan in their opening game. Rahmatganj, who defeated Arambagh KC in their first game, took their tally to four points with the draw.
Feni Soccer’s Ugandan winger Kubaye Dominic put his side ahead just 10 minutes after the start of the match from a set piece.
He deceived the opposition goalkeeper Iran Sheikh with a fierce low free kick from just outside the penalty area.
Feni Soccer, who finished fourth in the last season, could have doubled their lead had Masudul Alam Bulbul not squander his chance in a one-on-one situation in the 37th minute.
Masud drove the ball just wide off the target as he had only keeper Iran to beat.
Rahmatganj were very close to an equaliser in the added time of the first half when the club’s Ugandan recruit Idris Kasirye beat an advanced Feni Soccer goalkeeper Piarujjaman Piru with a cheeky chip over his head only to be denied by the Red team’s defender Shahinoor Alam.
Shahinoor cleared the ball with a spectacular bicycle kick at the very last moment from goal-line.
Rahmatganj started pressing more for an equaliser in the second half and made two changes but they had to wait for it till the last minute.
They had a good opportunity when Pusbon provided a close cross in the 67th minute.
Idris attempted to drive the ball with the net open to him but his sliding effort went in vain as he failed to connect his feet to the ball.
The equaliser finally came in the last minute with an audacious chip of Idris defeated incoming keeper Piru after compatriot Ddumba Michael fed him a simple forward pass.
